I hope Seismic will create the same color/duro scheme in cone shape bushings in the future. An option to add clearance cuts for spherical bearings would be nice too. Currently I use a “carbide ball burr” on all my bushings (with a mask and eye protection!)

these fit it perfectly & I am surprised they are still functioning & only half worn after a year of daily skating

I really like the offset core on the wheels as well. It adds a little more than 1/4 inch to your truck width, so that allows you to get away with a narrower truck on big pool boards. The presence of a hard core also makes it really easy for bearing installation.

Symmetrical bearing seat wheels (i.e. reversable) with round profiles don’t work for freestyle, as your axle bolt threads/nuts will get damaged and you’ll be wobbling when you go up on rail (a basic freestyle manoeuvre.) These Seismic Focus 55mm wheels fit my Indy STG II T-Hanger trucks perfectly flush to the rail edges, with no axle scraping. Brilliant!

I purchased 97A durometer wheels, not too bouncy, not too slippy. White urethane wheels (no extra dyes) tend to wear slowly and evenly, this adds to the quality of the overall design of these wheels. Anything over 58mm is too tipsy for freestyle; “Tall wheels are sluggish, that’s the antithesis of freestyle,” to quote Rodney Mullen. (“Zen and the Art of Freestyle”, Thrasher, March 1989. Remember to use metal spacers between your bearings (and a washer on either side) to protect your bearings from getting wrecked by over-tightening and general (ab)use.

I’m looking forward to getting back into freestyle, it’s aesthetically such a different approach than street/vert/downhill. Freestyle might closer to breakdancing where streetstyle is closer to martial arts, but it’s all sidewalk surfing in the end.

I still intend to get a set of 85mm 75A Clear Blues for comparison because I have a feeling that Brandon’s review may just be the tip of the iceberg about those wheels.

I now have a 30.5×10.25 deck with RKP trucks (96A Venom bushings on the rear, 90A Venom on the front), angled risers and either 75mm reissue red 78A Kryptonics or 85mm 77A Bubblegum DefCon Speed Vents for everything (I have 4 other sets of 60-70mm wheels but they don’t really compare and have only been ridden twice each). I suppose I am into LDP and a bit of DH these days, in the modern parlance. I haven’t fully broken the bearings nor the Speed Vents in yet but they already have a 5-10% advantage over the Kryptonics. Since I am not a slider, I am kind of wishing I had bought the clear blues instead (see Brandon’s review) but that’s a project for next year.

I cannot fault the increased speed of the DefCon 77A Speed Vents over the rough terrain of my local streets nor the fact that the core makes them the same weight or lighter than my 75mm wheels. Would I buy another set if I wear these out? Certainly. Am I also going to buy a set of 75A Clear Blues, just in case they are even better for what I want? Based on the DefCon 77A, absolutely!

The customer service is second-to-none. Don’t be afraid to ask a question. You’ll get a response back in lightning time. Dan is extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

I can’t say enough good things about Seismic trucks. I don’t leave home without my board.

A quick note about the customer service, because to me, this is what gains my loyalty. I had a question about my setup, which was answered in less then ten minutes by Dan himself. LESS THAN 10 MINUTES! His answer helped me dial in the setup that I wanted, and with the installation of some risers, I was on the street as soon as my package arrived.

Seismic is a great product with great people behind it. They’ve made a loyal fan out of me and I bet they do the same for you.

I initially bought the red 101a Focus wheels with the original core from a little freestyle skateboarding website called Decomposed. I LOVE the red 101a Focus wheels! The Focus design is a cored wheel, so installing and removing bearings is very easy and precise. The 101a’s allow you to do some really smooth footwork, spins, slides, carves, pivots, and quick changes of direction. These wheels are lightweight, agile, and stable. On smooth concrete, these wheels get really fun, since they have abilities typically reserved for ice skating. They glide and slide around at your command. Even though they occasionally slide-out, it’s a controlled slide that you can recover from, which is helpful for saving landings or modifying tricks. I enjoyed the red 101a Focus wheels so much, that I wanted to try the blue 97a Focus wheels.

I bought the blue 97a Focus wheels direct from Seismic Skate this time. Dan Gesmer at Seismic is so helpful and supportive, both with choosing wheels and customer service. He was so cool to throw in a few extras for me that I never expected, and that motivates me to skate better!

I have been very satisfied with the blue 97a Focus wheels so far. Now the Focus wheel has a significant core redesign. I thought the original core was great too, but I was told the new, smaller core is more resilient. The blue 97a’s exhibit a slightly different character than the red 101a’s. I noticed the wheel is softer, which means more grip, and resiliency on slightly rougher surfaces than smooth concrete. The blue’s grip more on slippery concrete, so that can prevent unnecessary sliding. They are every bit as lightweight, agile, and stable as the red 101a wheels, but with more stability from increased grip. The 97a is an excellent choice for versatility when skating on various smooth surfaces. However, you will find that the 97a and the 101a are complementary to each other.

Overall, both durometers of Seismic Focus wheels are incredible! The offset shape of the wheel wears down very evenly, and covers the axle and nut. Bearing installation is a snap. 101a is more prone to controlled sliding, and the 97a is more grippy with a little softness for resiliency. These are versatile wheels that can handle all aspects of freestyle, all tricks from rolling to rail are super stable. I recommend you try both durometers to get the full experience of what the Focus wheel design has to offer. Thank you Dan Gesmer and Seismic Skate for making these awesome Focus wheels! I have an engineering background and a general appreciation for well engineered products, and these are light years ahead of any other truck I have seen and/or used.

They are very precise, tune-able, and have none of the squishy feel of the bushing-style trucks I have seen or used. My son has the previous version of these on his board and they are also great. Nobody in our area has ever seen a Seismic truck, so they have a bit of novelty to them as well and people are curious what they are.

Customer service from this company is exceptional as well. One of the small c-clips was broken upon arrival, and some spares were sent out to me immediately.

I also purchased a set of 85mm Speed Vent wheels and Tekton bearings with these trucks, and all of the products from this company are excellent.

Clear blue 75A is the durometer I purchased in this wheel, along with the Tekton 6-Ball (red) bearings. Compared to the first board I built, these wheels and bearings are so much faster! The large diameter is nice for rolling over irregularities on riding surfaces, and the large diameter does not appear to slow them down at all. As an example, just sitting on the board with one of my other kids rolling down a hill, I will accelerate away from my son on the other board, which has 77mm wheels on it and freshly greased bearings. In comparison between the two boards, the one with the Seismic wheels and Tekton bearings feels like it is a powered board, no joke.

These are beautiful wheels, and I love how the sun shines through them. Overall quality is excellent and they have very little runout. While I am just a casual rider and have never done any slides or any aggressive type of riding, I will say they have a lot of grip while cornering.

I doubt I will ever wear out these wheels with the type of riding I do, but if I ever need to replace them I would without hesitation get another set of Seismic wheels!
